December Favs

Updated: Jan 7, 2021

Can you believe that this crazy year is almost over?!?! With such a weird and challenging year there are small things that have brought us all comfort and joy. Here are our favourite things from this month and the whole year!

Sarah's Favs

One thing that I have really been missing from spin class at the gym or even at home workouts is the sweat towels! I always took these for granted and when I'm doing a spin workout I especially miss it! I finally decided it was time to treat myself a couple of months ago and get the small towel from Lululemon. II know that nobody really likes to talk or think about sweat but we all know that it's a good sign of a great workout! This little towel puts up a strong fight against the toughest workouts to keep you fresh. Great for hot yoga, spin class, and a sweaty sweaty HIIT sesh, this small but mighty micro-fibre towel is your best friend.

Ginzing Oil-Free Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturizer – $49 CAD and Eye Cream – $43 CAD– Origins

As a girl who struggles with acne, I am always on the look for skincare products that suit my troublesome skin. While I love my simple ordinary moisturizer sometimes you just need that extra luxe moisturizer and the Origins Ginzing moisturizer truly leaves me feeling refreshed. I have tried both the oil-free and regular cream and have settled on the oil-free as a perfect balance for my combination skin. The energy-boosting scent and soft almost gel-like texture keeps moisture locked in. I also pair this moisturizer with the refreshing eye-cream in the same scent in the mornings. I find the cream has a bright tint that not only reduces the puffiness under my eyes it also brightens my skin with a subtle sheen. I highly recommend these two products as a luxurious duo to treat yourself and your skin!

Teddy Bear Robe – Pottery Barn $67 from $112 CAD

I have never really been a robe person but trust me when I say this might be the greatest robe that has ever graced the earth. They call it the teddy bear robe for a reason, it is so soft and plush it literally feels like you are being hugged by a giant teddy bear. This robe is perfect for the winter months to cozy up by the fire or slip on when you wake up. It also has great big pockets which I always appreciate because I always seem to be carrying a million things around the house. This is probably my favourite Christmas gift and it's on sale now almost 50% off!

Sezzy Timer app – $1.99 CAD

This is another one of my favourite tools for the gym or at home workouts. I always struggle with keeping track of reps or timing circuits during workouts and this app takes all of that off of my plate! For just $1.99 you have access to 5 preset workout timers as well as a custom timer to build your own workout. The custom timer is the one I use the most as the other timers are specifically linked to Sarah's Day's 2 e-book workouts (Sweat it to Shred it and Sweat it Reload – Sweaty SHredder, Toning Power, Circuit, 10 Minute Blaster, and AMRAP). The custom timer allows you to see how many circuits and rest time in between each circuit as well as how many rounds of each circuit and rest between the rounds and finally how many exercises per round with exercise duration and rest time. The app shows visual and auditory cues allowing you to step away from your phone and fully tune into your workout with your music playing simultaneously. It's like having Sezzy (Sarah's Day) right with you as your personal trainer!

This item has truly been a saviour from all of my time spent doing work and school from home. With countless hours staring at my computer screen, my eyes were seriously strained and needed some protection. It is nearly impossible to find blue light protecting glasses in stores so I took to the store that has everything, Amazon. The blue light glasses from FEIYOLD were a great deal and came in a pack of two (available with Prime). I truly feel that after 3 months of use that they have made a difference. My eyes feel less tired and dry and I have fewer headaches which were caused by blue light. This is a great purchase to kick off the new year with a healthy decision for your body!

Julia's Favs

I feel like “gratitude” has been the word of 2020 (besides the C word). I’ve learnt that demonstrating gratitude daily can have several great benefits for your mental health and considering how tough this year has been in that regard, I decided to ask for a gratitude journal for Christmas. It has been a goal of mine to start my mornings writing in my gratitude journal and setting positive intentions for the day ahead. There are tons of different types of gratitude journals you can get, and you’ll have no problem getting your hands on one!

I saw this journal at Indigo (before lockdown) for 50% off and knew I had to grab it! I have no clue why journals are so expensive, but if you’re in need of a new one, the sale is still on!

Diffuser - $36.99

I have been reading a lot lately on why scented candles can have adverse effects on your health! I love my bath and body works candles, but lately I’ve been opting for my diffuser instead after learning this. I won’t get into the nitty-gritty, but if you’re interested, read this article to learn more about the harmful ingredients found in some candles: https://metro.co.uk/2019/10/11/are-scented-candles-bad-for-your-health-10903194/

GoodFood Box - Price varies

Lately, my family has been ordering the Clean15 meal kits from GoodFood. The meals are always super delicious and healthy, and it’s so fun to try out the new recipes that they send you! For a busy family like ours, it takes the stress out of planning and preparing meals. Our grocery store visits are also a lot shorter now since we don’t have to buy food for dinner 7 days a week! If you’re interested in trying GoodFood, I have a coupon code that will get you $50 off your first order! Just click here: https://www.makegoodfood.ca/en/referred-by/l2275324

Now that gyms in Ontario are closed for the next month, we’re back to home workouts! The Tone and Sculpt app by Krissy Cela has been a life-saver for me when it comes to home workouts. I am currently doing the Sculpt It program, which consists of 30-minute workouts that you can do at home. All you need are some dumbbells and exercise matt and resistance bands.

Sandi's Favs

Think Dirty.

This is one of my new fav apps hands down. It allows you to scan any beauty products bar code and get a ranking from 1 (super safe and super clean product) to 10 (super toxic ingredients - avoid at all costs). It is so easy to use and provides so many insights in terms of what ingredients you should watch out for without having to understand any chemical compound babble.

It is the most wonderful time of the year! Where last night's champagne becomes next morning's mimosa. Being a huge fan of fizzy carbonated drinks, I get super bummed when they get flat. ESPECIALLY when it’s a bottle of prosecco or champagne. However, my mom introduced me to this incredible little bottle stopper that is designed to keep the bubbles in your bubbly! My life has forever changed and will never have to settle for a lack of sparkles.

I know, I have a cheese problem. Whether it’s a baked brie, goat cheese dip, or just some gouda and crackers, once I start I can’t stop. My latest obsession is the whipped feta made by the Original Dish. It is so yum and easy to make and is a huge crowd-pleaser. (By "crowd" I mean my parents swarming the kitchen to make sure I'm not burning the place down). Trust me, you’ll be asked to make this every night.

The Comfy - $30 CAD

I have been eyeing the Oodie for MONTHS. But its steep price of $110 CAD has deterred me from living my best blanket hoodie life. But then… Tiktok provided me with the most crucial information I would learn this year… Costco was selling The Comfy. You better believe I ran. For just $29.99 you can feel as cozy as humanly possible (plus there is a huge pocket to store your snacks). Now off you go before they sell out.

My one and only purchase for Black Friday this year was this Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Face Primer. It makes my face feel so nice and silky and smooth AND this stuff smells amazing! The gold glitter blends into your skin so you don’t have to worry that you look like you just crawled out from a mardi gras party. My hot tip is to purchase this product straight from the YSL beauty website as they have it listed as $8 less than Sephora, and they have semi-frequent 30-40% sales.

Stay ✨glowing✨,

Sarah, Julia, & Sandi
