November Favs

Updated: Nov 25, 2020

How are we already at the end of November?!?! I swear we just posted our favs from October, anyways here's our fav things that brought us joy this month. You can also use this list as Christmas gift shopping or list inspo, you're welcome😉

Julia's Favs

I know, I know. Lululemon isn't very affordable... but if you're in the mood to treat yourself, consider getting this hoodie. I love the cropped, oversized look of it and it even has thumbholes to keep your hands warm. It's a super cute addition to your loungewear collection!

These sherpa sweatpants from roots are the warmest sweatpants I have ever owned. They're a little expensive but totally worth it. I'm going to be wearing them all winter!

Netflix Series - The Queen's Gambit

Once you get your sherpa sweatpants and scuba hoodie, snuggle up on the couch and put this show on. This is one of the best Netflix series I've watched. I won't bore you with a summary of the show, but you can check out the trailer for the Queen's Gambit here.

I’m back at it again with another book recommendation. When you’re not binging The Queen’s Gambit, try giving this book a whirl. I haven’t finished this one yet, but it’s definitely a page-turner. The book is set in France during World War II and is truly a remarkable story. I also was super excited to find out that Netflix will be releasing the novel into a limited TV series.

Calling all my achey ladies! Please do yourself a favour and treat yourself to this pain-relieving roll-on from sage. This is a life-saver if you're experiencing any muscle pain whatsoever!

Sarah's Favs

Body Bloom – $65.08 CAD + shipping

As a girl with a very problematic gut, I am always looking for products that can aid my digestion and overall gut health. My favourite influencer and absolute idol Sarah's Day partnered with Australian supplements company, Tropeaka, to make Body Bloom. This vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, non-GMO and organic inner-health and beauty powder is packed with incredible antioxidant and anthocyanin-rich ingredients to enhance your skin and promote gut health. The pre and probiotic blend support the gut while the blend of superfoods promotes collagen growth to keep your skin glowing! Sarah's Day created this product to help her hormonal acne-prone skin and flip-floppy gut and it has done wonders for her and myself! I start every day off with body bloom. If you have these problems I highly recommend that you check out the product and Sarah's Day video about it here!

I know what you're thinking, really Sarah, a gratitude journal? How granola. That's what I used to think too, but trust me as silly as it sounds taking 5 minutes in your day to reflect on what you are grateful for can really impact the rest of your day. I originally bought this journal for my parents during quarantine to help them get out of the covid blues. Then I had fomo and got one for myself (what's new). The journal has two sections; morning and night. Each morning (or almost every morning) the first thing I do after brushing my teeth, washing my face and making a coffee is grab my journal. The sections contain prompts to help you reflect, the first being writing 3 things that you are grateful for. Next, 3 things that would make today great, and then you can write daily affirmations starting with I am... The second section is meant to be completed before bed at night. Here you write 3 amazing that happened that day and how you could have made the day better. Taking a moment to answer these questions helps you better understand yourself and make a positive change in your life. I strongly recommend this gratitude journal to anyone who is new to journaling!

MedSup Canada Disposable Masks – $15 CAD for 50-pack

Okay, before you jump to conclusions and shame me for using a disposable mask hear me out. I've always been one for re-usable products; from grocery bags, straws and silicone food covers but desperate times call for desperate measures. It has been proven that re-usable cotton masks are the biggest culprits of causing mask-ne and in order to be effective, they must be washed after every use. On top of that, if you don't add a filter to ensure 3 layers of protection, your homemade mask isn't really protecting you from contracting Covid-19. One day I was strolling through Costco as one does and stumbled across a 50-pack of these sleek 3-layer black disposable masks and I couldn't help myself. These masks are great for the gym, running errands and doing literally anything else. Instead of constantly washing my masks, after a sweaty workout, I can dispose of my mask and swap it for a fresh one and keep myself safe. I also love that they are black so they literally go with any outfit!

I'm always looking for new podcast suggestions and I'm sure you are too, so let me help you out! The Health Code Podcast is hosted by Sarah's Day, my idol, as mentioned previously, and her fiancé Kurt Tilse. This dynamic duo shares all of their advice on everything health, fitness, lifestyle, relationships and building your dream career! They post a couple of times a month and have recently added a spin-off podcast, The Health Code Daily. This podcast comes out daily with a specific theme and runs around 5-6 minutes. The themes encompass all areas of wellness from Motivational Monday, Tasting Tuesdays, Workout Wednesdays, Thoughtful Thursdays, and Feel-Good Friday! Listening to the Health Code Daily is a great way to kick-off your day after you've had your Body Bloom and written in your gratitude journal and the original Health Code podcast is great to listen to while driving, on a walk or even when doing work!

Lululemon Align Leggings – $88 CAD

I used to resist buying from Lululemon because of the price point and suitable dupes but this month I treated myself and bought maybe a few too many lulu leggings (whoops – I'm now a part of the cult). The align 21" leggings have become my go-to piece in my closet. Not only are they great for chilling around the house and running errands they are also perfect for low-medium intensity yoga. The silky, buttery texture feels like you are literally not wearing any pants in the best way possible, they keep me comfy and relaxed all day long!

Sandi's Favs

I may only be in my early twenties, but my knees closely resemble those of an 80-year-old woman. I started running regularly back in high school and my competitive nature of outrunning the person on the treadmill next to me has gifted me some pretty subpar knee joints. However, I only recently discovered that you should be replacing your running shoes every 800km. Mind you I have been using the same Nike running shoes for the past 7 years. (No wonder I can’t walk upstairs without hearing my knees click.) So, I finally decided it was time to treat myself and get some decent supportive kicks, and the lovely gentleman at the Running Room matched me up with these puppies. Without a doubt, they have changed my life and my running pace. I no longer have to cut my runs short due to knee pain, as the shock-absorbent base allows me to finish my 5k in a reasonable amount of time. (Let’s not talk about my pace just yet, remember I’ve been stuck with granny knees these last few years).

I have been blessed with the world’s most sensitive and allergic skin, and it has been an absolute JOURNEY to find a skincare line that works for me. But I am glad to announce that this journey has finally come to an end. The Toleriane skincare line from La Roche-Posay has been life-changing. The cleanser, moisturizer, and spring water have become part of my daily routine due to their soothing and calming properties. Not to mention, this line has been clinically proven to reduce skin sensitivity over time. Big win.

Miso Soup

What’s better than a bowl of warm soup on a chilly winter day? A soup that literally only takes 2 minutes to make and is a yum low-calorie snack. I have been making this miso soup pretty much every day these past few weeks and I am obsessed. If you are feeling fancy you can heat up the broth on the stove and whisk in the miso paste once it is warm to your liking. Finally, just top it off with some small bits of tofu, green onion, and nori. (I usually just throw my broth in the microwave for about a minute because who wants to be doing more dishes than they need to.) And wham bam boom you got yourself a yummy salty snack to get you through another November day.

When this collection dropped I was beyond excited. I have been a huge fan of Whitney for years and unfortunately her Gymshark collection last year sold out within seconds so I was unable to secure any of her super cute gym wear. But this year was my year. I got the fitted joggers and recovery hoodie in black and my oh my are they cute. The material is super soft and comfy, and the cut of the joggers gives a flattering fit while allowing you to leisure at your will.

LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask – $26 CAD

I may be a little late to the party, but this lip mask is unreal. I remember people hyping it up last year, but I refused to go down the over-hyped product rabbit hole until now. This stuff is amazing. I use it every night and wake up with smooth hydrated lips. It has a nice delicate smell, so it doesn’t get obnoxious while you try to get your beauty sleep, and it isn’t crazy sticky like some other lip masks I have tried. Overall, if you are looking for some serious overnight lip repair, this is the one.
